Director Finance Ops & Analytics
Role Summary: The Director, Operations & Labor Analytics is Universal Studios Hollywood’s Finance leader for Operations, Attractions, Parking and Labor Analytics. This role provides a unique opportunity to make an impact on the theme park profitability by partnering with senior operational leadership responsible for daily operations, including revenue and labor. The Director manages the profit and loss statements for the individual departments as well as drives critical analyses for revenue opportunities, operational efficiency, new projects and workforce planning. Job Duties: Operational Finance: Own Revenue, Expense, and Non-Financial Metrics across Operations, Attractions, and Parking business units. Support Capital projects by preparing financial business cases, tracking scope changes and cash flow, and reviewing timelines. Partner weekly with department management to review results and recommend immediate, tactical measures to optimize profit. Additionally support weekly executive business review presentations. Own forecasting including long range plans, annual budgets, quarterly year-to-go re-estimates, and monthly pacing. This requires partnership with Department Leadership to create points-of-view aligned with broad USH business objectives. Oversee monthly close and communicate variances against budget and previous periods to identify significant trends and ensure accurate financial reporting. Help oversee necessary accounting infrastructure to accurately track, analyze, and manage cost at a detailed level, including labor, operating expense, capital investment, and other ad hoc support. Additional duties may be added as needed by the organization. Workforce Planning & Analysis: Partner with various stakeholders to understand business labor needs and set hiring targets. Partner with Labor Relations to value collective bargaining agreements and support negotiations. In collaboration with department leadership, optimize labor scheduling by setting key performance indicators, using detailed daily data to track against those targets, and evaluating results with clear and timely labor utilization and schedule quality improvement recommendations. Support CFO in various strategic initiatives/ad hoc projects. This includes innovative business system improvements requiring knowledge of complex CBA guidelines. Team Leadership: Manage direct reports and a broader staff though leadership, coaching, career development, and performance management. Actively engage in the details and in some cases month-end accounting tasks to diagnose and address issues and ensure all deadlines are met and results reported accurately. Seek process and system improvement to enable elevated team member contributions beyond day-to-day transactional work.
