VP, Business Affairs

Job Purpose: The Vice President, Business Affairs will be primarily responsible for development and series related agreements in connection with scripted television programming, including, but not limited to, writer, director, producer, and actor test option deals for Universal International Studio (a studio within Universal Studio Group) supporting Working Title Television, Carnival Films, Heyday Television, Matchbox Pictures, and internal productions. This role will also support the broader Universal Studio Group portfolio as needed and report to the SVP, Business Affairs in the US with a dotted line to the SVP, Business Affairs in the UK. Essential Responsibilities: Negotiate all aspects of scripted programming deals with talent agents and lawyers (including profit participation, rights agreements, and overall/first look deals) in direct liaison with the relevant stakeholders within the studio. Interface with the following departments on a day-to-day basis: Creative, casting, production, labor, legal, publicity, finance, ad sales, music, syndication, and marketing and BA admin. Review budgets and other financial data associated with the development and production of aforesaid programming. Draft short-form deal memos and test option agreements, as well as review long-form agreements for accuracy of terms negotiated and coordination of payment authorizations.
